10/9/2013 · For me, the Laban efforts are most useful when applying them to the general force of a character. For example, my character in 13, Ruby, may be a Dab with the occasional Punch.However, using the efforts line by line is less helpful, in my opinion, because I do not believe it lets actors ride on instinct and innate response to a moment or a piece of text.
2/24/2009 · LABANS 8 BASIC EFFORTS. Out of the 8 basic movements, I found punch and press the hardest to do as they both required strong emotion to be carried out. On the other hand, I really felt in my element when we were required to act float and slash as they were indirect and more free.
